Make room in your diaries: JTL is now offering webinars on its own product world, modules and relevant eCommerce topics. As if that wasn’t enough, we are expanding the program at the beginning of 2019 to include a training program via online videos. JTL Training Manager Markus Thimm explains what the new formats look like and what participants can expect from them.
New information platforms at JTL
If you are reading this article, you are at least already familiar with JTL’s blog – a central channel for current topics from our company and partners. Until now, many users have found tutorials and product launches on our website or in a much more concrete form on YouTube or in the JTL-Guide. The JTL forum, our Facebook page and, of course, the new Facebook group were primarily available for interactive exchange with other users as well as our employees and partners.
We are now expanding this already extensive listing with webinars. In online meetings lasting around one hour, we will introduce you to the product world of JTL as a whole, but also specifically to modules such as JTL-eazyAuction and JTL-Shipping. We would also like to discuss current topics in the online retail industry with you – whether legal issues, logistics aspects or cross-border trade. For these webinars, we also bring in our experienced partner network to give you as comprehensive an insight as possible into the respective aspect of eCommerce. We also want to provide potential partner agencies with a point of contact to show them the prospects and growth with JTL.
With the online training courses, we will be dividing our beginner training courses into comprehensive video courses in future. The courses are essentially about providing assistance with the installation and setup of JTL-Wawi. Building on this, customers can then expand their knowledge of item management, shipping processes and more. However, the program is not only intended to cover our ERP. Of course, we are planning comparable content for other products such as JTL-Shop, JTL-WMS and much more.

The webinars
JTL: Markus, what is the idea behind this new listing? What motivated you to create the new online service?
MT: With the introduction of e-learning content, we primarily want to do justice to the spirit of the times. All knowledge is now available online at any time. So why not also the know-how about the JTL product world? An important factor here was the feedback from our partners and customers. After all, traveling to a classroom training course at our training location is always associated with hardship and expense – whether in terms of time or money.
The webinar element represents an intermediate step here. Although participants receive the knowledge online and digitally, the live nature of a webinar means that they still have the opportunity to ask questions or take part in a discussion.
JTL: Who are the webinars aimed at? And how can interested parties participate?
MT: Short answer: To everyone. But seriously – the aim is to have something for every interested party, customer and partner. However, there will be some webinars that are explicitly aimed at partners. All of them will focus on knowledge transfer.
Participation is very simple. You can simply log in via our webinar page – as long as you have a valid email address and are interested in the topic. The choice of device is up to you. Whether on a laptop, tablet or even on a smartphone on the train, as long as your internet connection works, you can take part. If you are unable to take part in an event despite these options, this is not a problem. We plan to repeat the JTL topics at certain intervals. Participation itself is free of charge.
JTL: How interactive are the webinars?
MT: That depends on the topic. Some webinars are aimed at interaction with the participants, they should be able to ask questions or stimulate discussions. However, some are also designed as information webinars. Video course and webinar participants can also take part in an exclusive Q&A session.
The training courses
In terms of training, we are making some changes compared to the previous model. Although face-to-face training will still take place, we are transferring a large part of the program to video format. This also means that partners will be able to certify themselves online. In fact, the first online certifications are already underway.
We would like to further optimize cooperation with our partners. The time and costs involved can be better scaled for them and for us with this approach. And for those who can’t take a day off from business, the pause function of the new training courses should come in handy.
We would like to start this new program in the first half of 2019. We also offer these training courses free of charge. However, the certifications will remain fee-based. More specific information on the start of the online training courses will follow soon.
