Shipping 2.0: The Multi-Carrier Control Center for Modern Shipping

More than 50,000 online retailers rely on JTL software.
New Rules in Shipping – Shipping 2.0 is the foundation
Customers expect faster deliveries, transparent shipment tracking, and seamless returns. At the same time, the demands on smart automation, cost transparency, intelligence and international logistics keep growing. Shipping 2.0 puts the entire shipping process on a modern foundation – with a platform that covers everything from carrier selection to tracking.
Multi-Carrier Routing
Manage 35+ carriers centrally, assign shipments based on rules, and compare rates.
Intelligent Automation
Create shipping rules, automate carrier selection, and use fallback logic.
Shipping Intelligence
Analyze delivery rates, compare performances, and keep shipping costs in check.
Returns & Tracking
Design branded tracking pages, manage returns centrally, and proactively notify customers.
SMS & Notifications
Send individual shipping notifications and SMS updates in multiple languages.
API and Integration
Integrate Shipping 2.0 seamlessly into existing systems – natively in JTL-Wawi, more integrations to follow.
The label is only part of the bill
Most merchants optimise the price per label. The bigger opportunity is the total cost of shipping — which includes five separate cost drivers, most of them invisible on a per-shipment basis.
Label costs
The per-shipment carrier rate. What everyone talks about – but rarely the largest opportunity.
Carrier mix savings
Routing each order to the cheapest or fastest carrier automatically – instead of sending everything to one carrier by default.
Failed delivery cost
Re-delivery fees, undeliverable write-offs, and return processing. Each failed delivery costs €3–8 on the top of the original label.
Customer service cost
“Where’s my order?” tickets cost €5–6 each to handle. At 1,000 shipments/mo with a 5% inquiry rate, that is €3,200–3,600/yr in support alone.
Operations & lock-in cost
Annual negotiations, manual routing decisions, penalty fees for splitting carrier volume, and tool-hopping between carrier portals.

The displayed rates are starting prices for standard delivery within Germany. Actual rates vary depending on weight, service level, and destination.Fuel surcharges and additional fees are not included. Unlike other shipping platforms, there is no fixed charge just for generating labels – the price shown is the base price. A complete price overview is available in your account.
No minimum volume requirements
Route shipments freely via any carrier – with no penalty fees for splitting volume. Unlike direct contracts, which are subject to minimum volume requirements.
Individual or centrally negotiated contracts
Already have your own carrier contracts? In the paid tiers, these can be integrated and used alongside the centrally negotiated rates – the platform selects the best option for each order.
Better rates at every tier
Higher shipping tiers unlock better discount levels (tiers 1 to 4). The more your business grows, the better the terms – without having to negotiate directly with carriers.
Frequently Asked Questions About Shipping Software and Shipping 2.0
Shipping 2.0 is a new cloud-based shipping platform that unifies multi-carrier management, intelligent automation, and tracking & post-purchase processes in one central solution – with centrally negotiated carrier conditions and the flexibility to integrate into your existing workflows. It is designed to work both as a standalone solution and natively within the JTL ecosystem, and is the successor to JTL ShippingLabels – built on modern infrastructure with a significantly expanded feature set.
You can find step-by-step setup instructions in the JTL-Guide. If you’ve already met all the necessary requirements, you can log in directly to the Shipping 2.0 app.
Shipping 2.0 is designed for e-commerce merchants of all sizes – from beginners who want to ship professionally, to large-scale merchants with multi-warehouse requirements and enterprise needs. The platform is integrated into JTL-Wawi, and additional integrations will be available soon.
No. Shipping by JTL is designed as a platform that any e-commerce merchant can use, regardless of which ERP or shop system they operate. For existing JTL merchants, there is additional value through native JTL-Wawi integration — orders, inventory, and shipping data connect automatically with no setup required. Integrations with further platforms such as Shopify are planned for Q3 2026 onward.
Yes. The Shipping Start tier is permanently free and includes label creation, access to centrally negotiated carrier rates, and the new cloud infrastructure. No credit card required, no time limit.
No. Shipping by JTL offers centrally negotiated rates with major carriers that you can use from day one — no own contract, no minimum volumes, no upfront negotiation required. If you already have your own carrier contracts and want to keep using them, you can. Paid plans allow you to connect your own contracts alongside the JTL central rates and use both in combination.
At launch, 35+ carriers are connected — including DHL, DPD, UPS, GLS, Hermes, FedEx, DHL Express, PostAT, Bpost, Chronopost, BRT Italy, SpringGDS, ParcelOne, and Asendia, among others. Shipping is supported from 9 countries to 200+ destinations worldwide. Carrier coverage is continuously expanding.
DHL is deactivating its 3.0 API on 30 May 2026, DPD is sunsetting its legacy API shortly after and GLS is stopping their Shipments API (WebAPI) later in 2026 . Shipping by JTL will have the new API connections ready in time. For merchants still on JTL ShippingLabels, JTL will also make the updated integrations available there — you will need to update to the latest version of JTL-Wawi (1.11 or 2.0).
All existing JTL customers receive Shipping Start at no additional cost. If you are on JTL Start, this means access to the full free shipping platform including centrally negotiated carrier rates — ready to use from day one, with no extra steps. If you are on a paid JTL plan (Advanced, Pro, or Enterprise), you get the same free Shipping Start tier, plus the added benefit of being able to connect your own existing carrier contracts on top of the central JTL rates. You keep the flexibility you’re used to, at no extra cost. As your shipping needs grow, you can always upgrade to a higher Shipping tier to unlock additional automation, analytics, and carrier management capabilities.
No. The transition is voluntary. JTL supports the process with a structured migration program – step by step, with clear timelines and support.
No. All core functionality you rely on today — label creation, carrier connections, shipping method configuration, shipment management — is fully available in Shipping 2.0. In most areas the new platform goes significantly further, with automation rules, fallback routing, analytics, branded tracking, and a returns portal all added on top of the existing baseline.
Shipping 2.0 goes far beyond label creation: multi-carrier management, rule-based routing with fallback logic, centrally negotiated carrier rates, shipping analytics, branded tracking, returns management, and address validation – all on one platform.
JTL negotiates carrier rates centrally and in bulk – which makes rates more affordable for many merchants than negotiating on their own. These rates are available starting from the free “Shipping Start” tier, with no minimum volumes or individual contracts required. Merchants who already have particularly good rates through existing contracts can continue to use them and combine them with the central JTL rates if needed.
Existing carrier contracts can continue to be used (depending on the tier). In addition, the centrally negotiated JTL rates are available – both can be flexibly combined.
Shipping 2.0 is currently in open beta. General availability is scheduled for the second half of 2026.
Shipping 2.0 is designed as an extensible platform. Core features like multi-carrier management, labels, and central rates are available from the open beta, as will advanced features like analytics, branded tracking pages, return workflows and address validation.
