AI in eCommerce refers to the use of artificial intelligence to automate and optimise processes in online retail. This includes automated price optimisation, AI-powered customer service, intelligent returns management and the automated creation of product texts, among others. AI systems continuously analyse data – on prices, customer behaviour and market changes – and make independent decisions on this basis.

AI in eCommerce automates recurring tasks, accelerates decision-making and enables personalisation at scale. Prices adjust to competitors in real time, customer enquiries are answered around the clock and product texts are generated in seconds – without any manual effort. In the medium term, AI is also changing the purchasing process itself: with Agentic Commerce, AI agents will soon autonomously shop on behalf of consumers.
