Artfully staged: Private Art House

Ivonne Glasenapp is an art lover. She has turned her passion into a profession. With private-art-house.com, she has been running an online gallery for over a year, which she realized with JTL-Shop. “Your personal art experience” is the slogan Ivonne Glasenapp uses to advertise Private Art House. And indeed, the attention to detail with which she has staged her online presence is impressive. Reason enough for us to visit her at her premises in Bühlertal in the greater Stuttgart area. We would like to report our impressions to you. Good thing we had our cameraman with us as well as our notepad.

Art. Unique and lively.

As soon as we enter the old tobacco factory where the art objects of Private Art House are stored and exhibited, we sense the special atmosphere that Ivonne Glasenapp wants to create with Private Art House. She opened the exhibition space in July 2014, just a few months before the launch of her online gallery. We immediately notice the very open, pleasant design of the exhibition space. There is art to touch here. Every corridor reveals new spaces in which the effect of the exhibited objects can unfold.

Numerous atmospheric impressions await visitors to the premises of Private Art House.

“The closeness that a visitor can build up when looking at a picture is decisive for their purchase decision,” says Ivonne Glasenapp, “peace and quiet and privacy are essential for this. But the most important thing for me is to create a relaxed, informal atmosphere. I want to make art tangible.” We immediately suspect that this principle must also have applied to the planning and design of her online gallery.

Ivonne Glasenapp has been a passionate painter herself for almost two decades. No style is unknown to her and she has taken numerous opportunities to try things out and further her education. Her network of artists has grown over time and she continues to value the importance of personal contact with the artists she exhibits with. There are no objects by artists in the Private Art House that Ivonne Glasenapp does not know and appreciate personally.

However, Ivonne Glasenapp has also noticed that search locations and expectations are shifting in the online age. “I know it from myself: Nowadays I’m on the internet much more often to research and perhaps find suitable artists and objects. I can make a pre-selection here. That saves a huge amount of time and effort. Why should it be any different for my customers?”

“Shortly after my first idea for the start-up, I realized that a parallel online channel for my art objects could become enormously important.” Together with Alexander Gehring from the agency evival.net, located just a few kilometers away, she set out to find a solution. The art expert has decided that the new online gallery to be created should meet the highest standards:

  • Modern, aesthetic design of the store
  • Authentic presentation of the art objects in changing environments
  • Numerous selection options for visitors based on user-friendly filters

For Ivonne Glasenapp, however, the usability and comprehensibility of the system are just as important for her as the operator. “For me, it’s important that I can do the things I have to do on the computer intuitively and understandably. In my case, this is primarily the uncomplicated entry of new paintings or photos and simple and clear order processing. I’m not so tech-savvy that I have the patience to understand complicated processes,” she tells us unabashedly.

Ivonne Glasenapp's workplace: tidy and a place to feel good. And that's exactly what you can expect from the software she uses for her art business.

Selection and decision for JTL software

She is quickly advised by Alexander Gehring that JTL-Wawi and JTL-Shop could be the optimal solutions for her requirements. She wants to try it out. After just a short time, the first test system is set up and the business founder can familiarize herself with the ERP processes. Only a few briefings are necessary for her to master the main scenarios. She diligently and meticulously photographs her paintings and writes atmospheric texts about the unique pieces and her artists. The decision for the software has been made and the JTL-Wawi database is filling up rapidly.

It takes just under a year to prepare everything for the launch of private-art-house.com. In close and regular consultation, the developers and designers at evival.net implement Ivonne Glasenapp’s ideas. The simple, unagitated look of the store is quickly found against the artistic background. And the technical features, such as the “product finder”, which allows visitors to conveniently filter desired paintings by style, color and exact format, among other things, can also be quickly implemented for the JTL-Shop.

“The adaptability of a store system, even with very high graphic requirements such as those of Private Art House, is of central importance to us as a technical service provider,” says Alexander Gehring from evival.net. His agency has now been certified as a JTL service partner. “JTL-Shop provides us with good conditions for implementing high-quality customizations for our customers at comparatively low cost.”

In September 2014, the time has finally come: private-art-house.com goes online. Ivonne Glasenapp and Alexander Gehring are not the only ones convinced that the result is impressive. We at JTL have also chosen the online gallery as one of our reference stores.

And it continues. The evival.net team is currently working on and testing the conversion to JTL-Wawi 1.0 and JTL-Shop 4 for the online gallery. Ivonne Glasenapp hopes that this will also give her online marketing a boost and more opportunities. We are sure that she will succeed and wish her continued success for 2016.

If you would like to find out more about the history of Private Art House, we recommend our success story, which we will be publishing on our website in the coming weeks. There you will find, among other things, a more detailed look at the technical challenges and practical hurdles that both our service partner and Ivonne Glasenapp had to overcome.

And now we hope you enjoy the atmospheric video that we were able to shoot during our visit to Private Art House and Ivonne Glasenapp:
