Show me your workflow | Winning workflows

As announced last week, we are once again focusing on JTL-Workflows. In particular, it’s about the winners of our “Show me your workflow” campaign, which we organized on the occasion of JTL Connect 2016. In the following, we will show you which process automations came out on top in the competition and how you can implement them yourself.

Thank you to all participants!

With “Show me your workflow”, we invited our users and partners to share their self-built workflows with us. We were curious to find out which workflows you use to make your daily business or that of your customers easier and more efficient. We were delighted to receive your submissions.

Our own workflow professionals then sat down together to select the three winners. We used the aspects of “benefit for other users”, “complexity” and “creativity” as evaluation criteria.

In the “Best of “Show me your Workflow”” presentation at JTL Connect, we then presented our three winners to the plenum. Of course, we would also like to share the three top processes with those who could not be there.

1st place: Flat-rate shipping costs | Collect store orders

Philipp Weigang from the former Kavendo OHG scored points with two workflows that he created for his customers.

His first workflow creates a shipping flat rate for customers. The specially created shipping method assigns the customer to a new customer group that does not have to pay shipping costs. At the same time, the workflow sends an email to an employee so that they can also adjust the customer group within the store. The customer group is also provided with a timer that resets the customer group in JTL-Wawi after the flat rate has expired and informs the customer again via email about the necessary adjustment in the shop.

You can find detailed information on how to set this up in our guide: JTL workflow: Shipping flat rate

Philipp’s second workflow enables store customers to collect their orders in the store. Specifically, this means that buyers who order daily, for example, can now collect these purchases and combine them into a single order. To do this, Philipp sets a condition in the shop that causes JTL-Wawi to hold back the order. Only when this condition is lifted by the customer or a predefined period of time elapses will the sales order be processed as normal.

Since this workflow also requires modifications to the JTL-Shop, we have not documented it in detail to avoid any misunderstandings. However, anyone interested in the workflow is welcome to log in to Philipp for more information: info@kavendo.de.

2nd place: Commission statements for authors

With his workflow, Niels Baumbach from Kreativkonzentrat creates the possibility to generate commission statements for purchased items. Ultimately, his approach can be used to create profit sharing for various groups and categories. To do this, he adds a flag to the item information, in his case that of a product designer as the author. If a customer now purchases one of these items, JTL-Wawi calculates the previously defined commission and generates a file containing the designer’s share after full payment.

3rd place: Check duplicate customers

Andreas Petermann from css-umsetzung.de landed on the third step of the podium. His solution was as simple as it was elegant: JTL-Wawi uses a workflow to check whether the customer already exists in the database when the customer is created. As a condition, he specifies that the process searches the customer database for the same e-mail address, telephone number or the combination of surname, city and zip code. If one of the conditions applies, JTL-Wawi sends an email to the responsible employee with the request to check the possible customer duplication.

JTL-Workflows: A construction kit for process optimization

Once again, we would like to congratulate the winners of our competition!

All three winners impressed us with their creative approaches. Their workflows show once again what possibilities lie dormant in the modular system of process automation.

Perhaps you have already come up with some ideas for your own implementations while reading this. You are welcome to share them with us – here in the blog or in a suitable place in our JTL forum. We look forward to it.
