What is the Cash Register Security Ordinance (KassenSichV)?
The manipulation of electronic cash registers causes the tax authorities to lose billions in tax every year. To counteract this, the Ministry of Finance has adopted new standards to prevent manipulation of cash registers with the KassenSichV.

The KassenSichV stipulates, among other things, that electronic cash registers whose technical design allows such a conversion must be equipped with a so-called technical security device (TSE) by 30.09.2020 at the latest.
The TSE provides all transactions of the cash register with an electronic signature. This is then stored in encrypted form on the internal memory of the TSS.

Similar to the blockchain principle, all transaction data is stored in the journal in an unalterable log. As the signature allocation contains both components of the current transaction and elements of the previous transaction, the tax office can use software to quickly find out where manipulation has taken place.
Important update: Further postponement of the changeover to the TSE
Due to corona-related difficulties in the conversion to the TSE, the tax authorities of 15 of the 16 German States have decided that the deadline or non-objection will be extended until 31.03.2021 (exception: Bremen).
However, this postponement is subject to two conditions:
You can obtain more detailed information from your local tax authority.
However, the KassenSichV prescribes further legally binding standards that had to be implemented by 01.01.2020 or 31.01.2020. We have summarized these in detail on our website.
