In just a few weeks, on April 21 and 22, the store meeting in Weilburg an der Lahn will enter its 17th round. The event for store operators and service providers offers exciting contributions on topics such as mobile shopping apps, legal aspects and fulfillment, as well as lively discussions in a relaxed atmosphere. Our developers Georg Jennessen and Dirk Lehmeier will also be addressing the latter in their presentation “Automation in online business – drop shipping, fulfillment, FBA”.

If you are still unsure about taking part in the Shoptreffens discussion rounds, our colleague Jan Weber, who has worked as a mail order retailer for many years, knows the event first-hand.
JTL: Jan, when was your first time at the Shoptreffen?
JW: I was there for the first time in 2010. At the time, I was curious to see if it would be worth my while. In the years that followed, I went whenever my time allowed. I have attended a total of four meetings since 2010.
JTL: So the event convinced you? By what?
JW: There are several points that come together. On the one hand, there is the fact that participants are offered a pleasant atmosphere for discussion. The buffet and drinks on the evening before the actual meeting give everyone involved the first opportunity to get to know each other. But even on the day of the event, the discussions and contributions take place at eye level. The participants themselves are not just old hands and professionals. Rather, interested parties can expect a colorful mix of small, medium and large store operators, as well as eCommerce professionals and service providers, all with different levels of experience.
JTL: Do you think it’s worth a visit for new sellers in eCommerce?
JW: Definitely! From my experience as a retailer, I can say that an early exchange with others is very valuable. The different approaches of many online retailers offer newcomers in particular the advantage of seeing that there are different paths to the goal. But industry veterans can also learn a lot from the discussions and networking – the colorful mix is crucial. The presentations, in turn, provide exciting insights from service providers and developers.
For this reason, we are also taking part in the store meeting this year. Georg and Dirk’s presentation will shed light on a topic that I find particularly relevant for new sellers. Many retailers like to put automation on the back burner. “I’ll deal with it when my store is bigger” is the prevailing thought. I see it the other way around. The advantage of the small retailer is that they can adapt more flexibly to future requirements. Once the store is booming, there is no time to automate its processes. Workflows and automation are an opportunity to save time and effort.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Jan for his assessment of the store meeting. JTL is this year’s top sponsor of the event and will be on site with a small stand to answer your questions.
