One week to go until JTL Connect 2015 finally starts in Düsseldorf. In addition to a large number of interesting exhibitors and exciting keynote speeches by our nine key speakers, many of our service and technology partners will also be giving specialist presentations. You can also look forward to a more technical insight into the new possibilities with our software solutions: In the Developer’s Room, you can look over the shoulders of JTL developers and talk directly to them about what’s new with JTL-Wawi, JTL-Shop and JTL-Connector!
A central topic at JTL-Connect 2015 will be JTL-Wawi 1.0 and the associated new options for structuring your own business. Accordingly, in one of the presentations on the main stage, our two employees Manuel Pietzsch and Maik Schwefer will inform you about the next development steps regarding our ERP JTL-Wawi.
We conducted a short interview with both of them on the occasion of their appearance at JTL-Connect.

Manuel, Maik, please introduce yourselves briefly in two or three sentences.
Manuel: “As a trained application developer, I have focused my entire professional career on the development of merchandise management systems. I’ve been working at JTL since the beginning of 2012 and lead the development of JTL-Wawi projects for the Hückelhoven site.”
Maik: “After studying computer science, I worked for four years as a project manager at one of Germany’s leading logistics consultancies. I brought the experience I gained there to JTL to set up the JTL-WMS three years ago. Since then, I have been responsible for the IT department in Hürth, which deals with exciting projects in and around JTL-Wawi.”
How many employees do you have in your teams? How do you generally see the development of JTL-Wawi up to the present day – what is special for you?
Manuel: “The team in Hückelhoven currently consists of nine motivated employees. All age groups and a wide range of skills are represented. We are always looking for new colleagues who fit into our team and enjoy their work.
When I started at JTL, the order management and delivery process was being developed. Even then, I was struck by how flexibly the company responds to customer requirements and how strongly the opinions and ideas of the employees are incorporated into the projects. Since day one, I have had full influence on the design of all processes around JTL-Wawi.
We have worked out many ideas together with our community and tried not to leave any customer feedback unconsidered. I’m really looking forward to JTL Connect, especially because of our unique community. It’s a great feeling to be on stage and be able to present your work.”
Maik: “We have a lot of exciting projects coming up in the near future, which we had to put on hold due to the long release period between 0.9.9.923 and 1.0.0.0. The guys are eager to resume these projects and also to tackle other new projects that we will be presenting at JTL Connect.
It is important to note that we will not all be working on new projects. A large team of developers will continue to work on the latest version of JTL-Wawi and round off the existing functions. We have received a lot of practical feedback from our customers, which we will gradually incorporate.”
In your presentation, you want to report on how things will continue after the release of JTL-Wawi 1.0. Can you already reveal something?
Manuel: “Of course, I don’t want to anticipate the content of our presentation, because then all the excitement would be lost. But what I can say is that the new projects are very much based on feedback from our community. There is guaranteed to be something for everyone. We will be introducing new features and completely reinventing old functions.”
Maik: “We will be introducing functions that customers have been looking forward to for a very long time. These missing modules perfectly round off the existing options within the JTL product world and offer retailers everything they need. And all from a single source!”
Thank you, Manuel, Maik, for the short interview!
