Checkout in 3 steps: JTL-Shop 4.06 improves the shopping experience
New convenience functions for buyers in JTL Software’s store solution reduce the risk of abandoned purchases
Hückelhoven, September 21, 2018 – With the new version 4.06, JTL-Software-GmbH is further expanding the functions of JTL-Shop. The store solution, on which over 10,000 online stores in the DACH region are based, offers a shortened checkout, an improved overview in the item listings and the integration of installment payments via PayPal. In the latest version, the IT company is therefore focusing on the buyer and the user experience. Numerous other improvements to the performance and stability of the software round off the release.
More overview for buyers
The simpler the purchase process, the fewer abandoned sales – that’s a rule of thumb in eCommerce. Shortening the checkout process was therefore at the top of the wish list of shoppers and retailers alike. Until now, the checkout process in JTL-Shop required online shoppers to go through six steps. The JTL-Shop development team shortened this to just three steps: From now on, customers start with “Login/Registration/Billing and delivery address”, then move on to determining the shipping and payment method and finish the checkout with the order overview including completion.
But browsing in JTL-Shop will also be even clearer in future. The Hückelhoven-based software company has added new display options to the list view of items. Buyers can use hover effects and a preview option to view all important information about the items and their variation combinations. It is also possible to select and order items there; switching to the individual item pages is only necessary in exceptional cases if the buyer wants more detailed information about the item. With version 4.06, the end customer will therefore find more information in the item listings, while the usability of the store increases at the same time.
New payment option
With the new JTL-Shop release, the PayPal plugin has also been updated to version 1.08. What sounds unspectacular at first glance, however, enables the integration of the installment payment Powered by PayPal, which is often requested by merchants. This increases flexibility for customers when purchasing goods, and the new payment model also makes higher-priced goods more attractive.
“Although we primarily focus on the merchant and their needs in our solutions, we must not neglect their end customers. That’s why JTL-Shop 4.06 focuses on the buyers and expands the usability of our software for the end customer,” comments Thomas Lisson, Managing Director of JTL-Software, on the new release. “Our own customers have confirmed us in this approach. Another reason for us to continue refining the user-friendliness together with our customers’ feedback in the future.”
