We already mentioned this in our last newsletter: Our JTL-Connector for Shopify is entering the open beta phase. After extensive testing in a selected tester group, we are now making the interface available to all interested parties as a test version.
Shopify in Germany
Shopify, the rental shop system from Canada that combines a website, blog and store, is recording a growing number of users in Germany. Reason enough for us to want to enable these users to integrate with our ERP system. To this end, we set our JTL-Connector team to work on developing a corresponding interface in 2017 and made it available to voluntary testers at the end of the year.
Now that we have received no more significant error messages from the closed beta testers, we would like to put the interface to the test in mass use.
The JTL-Connector
The JTL-Connector is our interface for docking third-party provider store systems to our ERP system. The JTL-Connector then organizes the exchange of data between the two systems fully automatically.
If you integrate your Shopify shop with JTL-Wawi, you can manage your items centrally via our ERP and keep an eye on stock, customers and orders at the same time. Meta fields for products, product variations, customers and orders can be conveniently changed and filled from the ERP. Particularly exciting for Shopify customers: if they use several shops to offer their products in multiple languages, they will be able to maintain them centrally via JTL-Wawi in future. ERP automatically synchronizes all changes with the connected stores.

The open beta phase
The open beta test has not yet been limited in time – after all, the aim is to eliminate any remaining problems. However, we expect it to run for an estimated 3 months (no guarantee). This will be followed by the commercial release of the interface, which, unlike our other JTL-Connectors, will be fee-based. The reason? Unlike other connectors, JTL-Software provides the interface on a JTL server and is maintained and supported by us. The integration of Shopify is therefore associated with more support effort on our part than with other store solutions. However, this also has advantages for customers: There are no installation or maintenance costs.
If you would like to use the interface, you can do this very easily with the following steps:
- Download JTL-Wawi
- Activate free beta license in the customer center
- Follow the further setup instructions in the JTL-Guide
And what if there are still problems? Would you like to give feedback or have you discovered an error? In this case, your main point of contact is the JTL-Connector subforum for Shopify. As with all beta phases, there may still be problems with the interface. However, serious blockers and obstacles should already have been eliminated by the closed beta. We look forward to active participation in the test and wish you every success in trading with Shopify and JTL.
