Amazon is adjusting the delivery of products in other European countries in view of the current high volume of orders due to Covid-19. For France and Italy, retailers will not be able to deliver products that Amazon classifies as non-essential to Amazon warehouses. In addition, Amazon will no longer accept orders for such goods with immediate effect. In the following, we will show you how you can counteract this development, which we also fear for Germany, in good time.
The current situationAmazon is currently struggling with high order volumes in many European countries. In response to this and the general health restrictions, the company has already suspended the delivery of all products outside of the baby, health and household, beauty and personal care, food and pet categories to Amazon warehouses in Italy and France (source: Techcrunch).
In fact, the large online marketplace is tightening its measures further: it is no longer accepting orders for non-essential goods (source: Reuters). The consequence for retailers there: first the stocks of FBA retailers were depleted, now there is a threat of a complete halt to trade. In view of current European developments, we believe that such a step is also possible for Germany – the consequence for many retailers will be a huge loss of sales on the marketplace.

JTL-Fulfillment Network as an opportunity
Those who promptly convert their product range to self-fulfilled products (FBM), serve other marketplaces and organize fulfilment elsewhere can absorb potential losses. Some retailers may be able to ship from their own warehouse, but for those who cannot, fulfillment for retailers offers an ideal alternative. This is because those who join the network have the option of working with independent fulfillment service providers. Thanks to the seamless integration into JTL-Wawi, all processes are transparent and can be automated.
The JTL-Fulfillment Network may still be in the open beta phase, but it is still very stable with over 400,000 successful shipments to date. Users can choose between around 50 fulfillment warehouses. Choose the right warehouse for you to ensure your own shipping capability as quickly as possible. The most important thing: The JTL-FFN itself is free of charge for merchants, only the costs for the services you arrange with the fulfillment service provider are incurred!

The use of the network is also not limited to JTL-Wawi users, as we work with open APIs for merchants and fulfillers. This means that users of Plentymarkets and Shopware can already access our services.
