JTL-Shop strengthens security and convenience for online merchants

Two-factor authentication and performance boosts optimize the performance spectrum of the store solution

Hückelhoven, February 14, 2017 – JTL-Software-GmbH is adding new functions to its JTL-Shop e-commerce solution. With version 4.05 of JTL-Shop, the company is now equipping its more than 20,000 customers with improved security and convenience functions. Applications will benefit from secure two-factor authentication, a revision history for CMS content and export formats as well as numerous other convenience and performance improvements.

Padlock for unauthorized persons

In version 4.05 of JTL-Shop, the company has created a fundamental hurdle for intruders by introducing two-factor authentication. The integration of the Google Authenticator prevents the login data of a user with admin access rights from being easily spied out, making intrusion more difficult. The development team also improved the security of database queries that bidder attackers to use SQLInjections. By rewriting many of the SQL queries used in prepared statements, they were able to further increase the system’s resistance to external attacks. The positive side effect: the use of prepared statements also increases performance.

Problem solving with one click

In addition to the security improvements to JTL-Shop, the eCommerce experts worked on new convenience options for users. In the latest iteration of JTL-Shop, changes to CMS content such as email templates or export formats can be tracked thanks to revisioning and, if required, reset to the previous version with a simple click. In addition, the upcoming release of JTLWawi 1.2 will bring another important feature to JTL-Shop: Thanks to customer-specific prices, merchants will be able to design their pricing models more flexibly in future and thus react specifically to customer inquiries and relationships.

There is also a new feature for plugin developers with JTL-Shop 4.05: the shop solution now accepts multilingual category attributes. This in turn allows templates and plugins from third-party providers to query and use these. Template and plugin developers can therefore access new elements in the software and make them usable for themselves.

At the same time, the Hückelhoven-based company has made various performance improvements to the store software. Applications with many categories in their online store in particular will experience a considerable increase in speed. The general performance of exports is now also significantly better than in the previous version.
