JTL-POS POS software available as a stable version
ECommerce software manufacturer JTL is taking a big step towards omnichannel retail with its point of sale system
Hückelhoven, February 20, 2020 – Today, JTL-Software-GmbH is releasing version 1.0 of its POS software JTL-POS. Following the successful open beta launch last summer, the range of functions for the stable version has been further expanded. Completely new: JTL-POS can be seamlessly connected to the company’s ERP, JTL-Wawi, creating a direct interface to online business. This gives cash register operators the opportunity to operate successful omnichannel retail.
JTL-POS brings retail and eCommerce together
JTL is primarily known for its diverse software solutions for eCommerce. With the release of JTL-POS, the company is positioning itself at the intersection of online and stationary retail for the first time: “We are convinced that retailers will only be successful in the long term if they operate omnichannel retail,” says Thomas Lisson, Managing Director of JTL. “With its wide range of functions and intuitive operation, our POS system meets the needs of retailers. On the other hand, our decades of experience in software programming for eCommerce have also gone into its development. The result is a system that serves both worlds: online and offline.”
To use the ERPConnected version of JTL-POS, the software must be connected once to the free JTL-Wawi ERP system. Once connected, the data from both systems is automatically synchronized in almost real time so that retailers can manage their data centrally in one place.
The integration with JTL-Wawi also gives cash register operators access to JTL’s other software solutions, which can be used, for example, to set up their own online store, sell on online marketplaces or manage warehouse and logistics processes in a resource-saving manner.
Wide range of functions for retailers
However, the interface to online business is only one of the strengths of JTL-POS. The POS software also impresses with a wide range of functions that JTL has developed specifically for use in retail. For example, a wide variety of item types such as variant or configuration items can be created within item management, which can be supplemented with additional information such as best-before date, batch and serial number with today’s release. This means that the use of JTL-POS is not limited to one industry, but the POS system can be individually adapted to the requirements of the respective shop type.
In addition, the JTL-POS development team has placed great emphasis on intuitive operation and fast commissioning: The software is available free of charge as a download from the Google Play Store. JTL-POS can be set up effortlessly on Android-enabled tablets or smartphones, so that users can start cashing up after just a few minutes.
Flexible retrofitting of payment providers and external hardware
The focus for the release was also on expandability. Numerous payment providers can be integrated into the cash register via an open OPI interface. However, customers can also take advantage of the discounted conditions of an already integrated payment partner such as SumUp or First Cash Solution.
External hardware such as scanners or receipt printers can also be flexibly retrofitted. Customers have a free choice: they can either use their own components with Android or ChromeOS as the operating system, or rely on hardware tested by JTL, which can be purchased at a discount via the JTL-Store.
Fit for the KassenSichV with JTL-POS
The German Cash Register Security Ordinance (KassenSichV), which came into force at the beginning of 2020, places extensive requirements on operators of electronic cash registers. JTL-POS fulfills the legal requirements 100 percent by signing the documents with the required additional information. As soon as customers connect a so-called technical security device (TSE), the requirements of the legislator are also fulfilled here. Customers can obtain certified TSE components for JTL-POS from the JTL-Store.
