JTL customer project

Picantum

From: Simone Wertz / Pikantum

We started by selling our herbs and spices at regional weekly markets and harvest festivals. In 2009, we set up our online shop.

We knew right from the start that we needed a merchandise management system. During our research, we came across JTL-Wawi. There is no better price-performance ratio and due to the low financial risk, we opted for JTL. The eBay and Amazon connection and our own store version are ideal for us. The handling of the JTL products is intuitive and simple – even (new) employees can quickly get to grips with them after a short training period. Since we at Pikantum do a lot of JTL-related work ourselves, the JTL forum and the JTL community are of great value to us. The friendly and useful support we receive here has helped us enormously in setting up important operational processes.

The challenge of storage and shipping processes

We want to continue to grow as a company in a controlled and healthy manner. So far, this has been a great success – but we are also constantly facing new challenges. In our initially small warehouse, we could no longer meet the growing requirements and decided to build a larger, state-of-the-art warehouse with 365 m². We initially handled goods receipt, picking and packing of the products completely manually. Using color coding and other small aids, we tried to create structure to help us find our way around the colorful world of spices. But as the number of items in stock increased, we could no longer control the risk of picking and packing errors.

JTL WMS and customized batch management

By switching to the warehouse management system JTL-WMS and the JTL packing table+, our warehouse and shipping processes are now much clearer and faster. Errors during picking and packing are almost impossible and our returns rate has dropped dramatically.
Another important feature for us is the customized batch management system that we created for JTL-Wawi. With the help of various database queries, we have optimized our system to such an extent that the legally required traceability of our goods is guaranteed at all times. JTL support and the JTL forum have also been a great help here.

Mobile store adaptations and a separate B2B area

We are currently working on the changeover to JTL Shop 4, which will make our store more structured, clearer and improved with regard to the use of mobile devices. In addition, the new store will have a separate B2B area, as this sector is experiencing strong growth for us. Our tip to all those interested in JTL: Don’t be overwhelmed by the wide range of products. The great thing is that even very complicated internal processes can be tailored to your own company thanks to the system’s flexibility.
