Amazon launches in the Netherlands: With Amazon.nl, the online marketplace is now also available in the Netherlands. In the following blog post, you can find out why it’s worthwhile for you as a seller to sell your products on the Dutch platform and how our Amazon Lister can help you.

Amazon.nl: How the platform works so far

The URL Amazon.nl is not new. The eCommerce giant has been using it to sell books and e-books in particular since 2014. Other products were previously only available via the German marketplace, to which Dutch customers were automatically redirected when searching. For a better customer experience, the product titles have been automatically translated for around three years.

The “new” Amazon.nl now has its own product catalog with local and international goods. This means that both the product titles and the product descriptions are no longer provided as a translation of the German version, but are originally listed in the local language.

Why it's worth selling on Amazon.nl

Perhaps some of you are now wondering why we are dedicating a separate blog post to the launch of the Dutch platform. We can answer that quickly: in our opinion, it is worthwhile for every retailer to list their products on Amazon.nl.

The following facts document why this is the case:

With a population of 17 million, the Netherlands may not be a large target market, but it is a very attractive one for online retailers: 96% of Dutch people use the internet – a world record. The Netherlands has also documented pole position in the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development’s (UNCTAD) eCommerce Index since 2018. This index shows how inclined a country’s inhabitants are to shop online.

Your start on Amazon.nl is quick and easy because no additional registration is required: the country platform is already part of your existing EU Unified Account. You can simply select Amazon.nl as the sixth country option in the corresponding menu of your Amazon Seller Central account and get started right away.

As only books and e-books have been sold on Amazon.nl to date, only a few sellers of other products are likely to be represented on the platform. As an established seller, you therefore have a head start over the competition. This is also because the Dutch have less experience with Amazon-specific features such as dealing with performance statistics, Amazon Ads or the Buy Box.

How to sell on Amazon.nl with the help of JTL-eazyAuction

You have two options for listing your products on Amazon.nl – as with the marketplace’s other country platforms: Adding to product pages via ASIN/EAN or listing using Amazon Lister.

As usual, you will be asked for the desired marketplace in the process you have selected and can select the Dutch version directly.

Add to product page via ASIN (Amazon)/EAN

If your item already has its own product page in the product catalog, you can quickly and easily add it to this product page using a unique identification number (EAN, ISBN, UPC).

Selling with the help of Amazon Lister

If your items do not yet have their own product page, you will need to create one yourself. Of course, you can also use our Amazon Lister for Amazon.nl. You can call up our tool directly from the item management in JTL-Wawi or alternatively from the Amazon marketplace management. The Amazon Lister consists of various tabs that correspond to the data fields on Amazon.nl, so that you can easily maintain your item data via your ERP or the JTL-eazyAuction interface.

To save time on future listings, you can use the Amazon Lister to link all item master data fields with the respective data fields of the Amazon listings. Your links remain saved so that you can access them again next time.
