JTL-Shop 4.05 is now available to all users. The new version has a lot to offer and brings exciting new features as well as numerous performance and bug fixes. Like all new versions of our software, JTL-Shop 4.05 is inspired by customer feedback. Accordingly, in our overview of the most important changes below you will certainly also find points that have been on your mind.
Announced features
We have already introduced you to three new features included in JTL-Shop 4.05 in the developer diaries over the past few weeks. Here you will find a brief overview once again:
Security
To improve the security of the store software, we offer users the option of additionally securing the back end of the store with two-factor authentication using the Google Authenticator. We have also worked under the hood and made the store more resistant to database queries: thanks to the conversion of SQL queries into prepared statements, external intervention through SQL injections is no longer possible. Another bonus: The use of prepared statements also increases performance.

Revisioning for CMS content and export formats
Have you tweaked your CMS content or export formats and suddenly nothing works anymore? Thanks to the new history function, you can jump back to a previous version with a simple click. In addition, the system now shows you the creation date and author of new content so that you always have an overview of who made which changes to the respective elements.
Customized prices
Many of you have requested the option of creating individual prices for individual customers in JTL-Wawi and displaying them in JTL-Shop. With JTL-Shop 4.05, the shop has created the basis for this. With the upcoming release of JTL-Wawi 1.2, the new feature will be fully usable.

Version 4.05 responds to even more customer wishes. Our store developers have also integrated the following points:
Readable URLs
You can now change the URLs that were previously blocked from indexing (shopping cart.php, news.php, pass.php, order.php etc.). If you would now like to use a specially defined URL for your Contact page (for example:www.Mustermanns-Laden.de/Neuigkeiten instead of www.Mustermanns-Laden.de/news.php), you have the option to do so. You can define whether the respective page is set to “nofollow/noindex” – i.e. whether search engines should also index the page or whether it should be blocked for them – by ticking the corresponding settings.
Multilingual category attributes
There is also an innovation for plugin developers: the store solution now takes over multilingual category attributes. This means that templates and plugins from third-party providers can also query and use these. Developers of third-party provider solutions will therefore have some new tools for their toolbox, as they can access new elements in the software and make them usable for themselves.
Of course, there are other things that our store team has been working on. For example, you can expect a revised layout in the back end and for the “My account” area. The coupon management has also been revised and search and filter functions have been added. You can find more information on new features and changes in the changelog (see below).
Improved performance
With each new release, we also aim to optimize the performance of the system. Many of these improvements are adjustments and updates to the code. With JTL-Shop 4.05, we have also made further adjustments. But two areas in particular show a gain in performance. On the one hand, users who use many categories in their online store will experience a considerable increase in speed. Secondly, exports are now noticeably faster.

Conclusion
As you can see, JTL-Shop 4.05 offers a lot of exciting new content. Only the shortened checkout, which we announced in the last quarterly newsletter 2016, has been postponed to a later release.
