DaWanda, the marketplace for handmade goods, is closing its doors at the end of August. This is unfortunate for JTL customers, but ultimately just the loss of a single sales channel. For many other retailers, however, DaWanda was the main sales channel. We have given some thought to how JTL can offer them a solution.
From marketplace seller to online retailer
Handmade products have experienced a steady upswing in online business in recent years. For some, this is as an independent, self-created product, for others as an extension or individualization of an existing product. Marketplaces, above all DaWanda, have provided a good basis for selling these products in Germany.
But what to do if this platform disappears? Of course there are alternatives. At the forefront of most people’s minds is Etsy. After all, DaWanda itself also recommends that its sellers move to the American handmade marketplace. But there are more: eBay, for example, offers its own category called “Handmade”. And top dog Amazon is also a worthwhile sales market. But serving three platforms at once – isn’t that a lot of work?
The example of DaWanda is an unpleasant lesson for retailers about the dangers of relying solely on one sales channel. The conclusion: selling on several platforms in parallel not only offers retailers a greater reach, but also more security and stability for their business. And as for the time and resources required to do this – that’s where JTL comes in.

The JTL promotion for DaWanda merchants
ERP, your own online store – do I really need that?
No question, this may sound intimidating at first. But it doesn’t have to be. With our software, you can manage all your products centrally in the free JTL-Wawi ERP system. Not only can you dock to eBay and Amazon and sell your products directly from the software. You can also integrate other marketplaces via our partner marcos software, including Etsy from the end of August. The advantage: You don’t need to control each sales channel individually – our software supplies them all centrally. This means you have a wider range of options and still save a lot of time that you would have to spend selling without a central system in the background.
Even better: you can also connect your own online shop – our JTL-Shop, for example. This is also available free of charge in the CFE edition and is ideal for taking your first steps as an independent online retailer. If you already have your own shop, you can easily dock it to JTL-Wawi using our interfaces, the JTL-Connectors.
If you don’t want to delve into the technical details, you can use our hosting solutions. This eliminates the need for IT administration, as your store is hosted on our servers and maintained by us.
Our promotion for DaWanda merchants: We’re giving you three months of our Basic hosting package for free. And to ensure that your existing DaWanda products end up directly in your own store, we have created a special migration tool for this purpose. It pulls all relevant product range data from DaWanda and migrates it directly to JTL-Wawi.

Our partner network and the community provide support
Not everyone likes to struggle with setting up new software, we understand that. Fortunately, JTL has a large partner network that provides customers with a wide range of services in such cases. A number of our service partners have agreed to make the changeover even easier for you at the special price of 79.90€. They will set up JTL-Wawi for you and migrate the DaWanda data directly into the ERP. And if you decide on an online store from JTL, they can help you to further professionalize your online presence.
But what if questions or difficulties arise? No problem. Our forum, a lively Facebook community, our service partners and JTL support and sales can provide answers or assistance in many cases.
