How a nutritional supplement supplier laid the foundation for growth with JTL-Wawi

With this message, the online retailer gloryfeel has been selling high-quality nutritional supplements since 2014. Due to its steady growth in recent years, the Hamburg-based company has also had to learn that the same applies to business. Their existing system no longer provided a sufficient basis to cope with the growing order volume. A new basis was needed.

In 2018, Managing Director Oliver Hanke finally decided to switch to the JTL-Wawi ERP system in combination with Shopify Plus. Five years later, the now 30-strong team can say “Happy system, happy eCommerce”, as the switch has provided the company with a new foundation for further growth with over 100,000 orders per month beyond the German market. Thanks to this specific system combination, the team no longer has to worry about growing pains.

When Managing Director Oliver Hanke was looking for a new system for his eCommerce in 2018, reliability, expandability and connectivity to other sales platforms were important to him. After all, the online store gloryfeel.de is just one of their sales channels. They also do significant business on marketplaces such as Amazon. In addition, gloryfeel is already available in Italian and Spanish, with other countries and markets to follow.

JTL-Wawi as the new control center for online business

After intensive research and many discussions, the software provider JTL gradually emerged as the favorite for a new ERP system. JTL is popular in the industry not only because of its cost-effective software solutions, but above all because of its system openness.

“JTL-Wawi had clear advantages for us as a marketplace retailer thanks to the integration of JTL-eazyAuction and the JTL-WMS warehouse management system, because we were looking for a system that would cover all areas of our trade. Last but not least, JTL’s professional service and communication were also convincing,” explains Hanke. With JTL-Wawi as the “control center” for his Shopify shop, Oliver Hanke and his team are able to reduce the effort for recurring processes, such as article data maintenance or accounting, to a minimum. “With JTL-Wawi, we have found a system from which we can control and document all business processes.” Here, he relies in particular on automation tools such as JTL-Workflows to not only work faster, but also more error-free.

Online companies depend on reliable partners, especially during the migration phase. In a sense, they are putting their business in the hands of the providers. At JTL, Hanke had a whole team to support him. In his opinion, the switch to Shopify Plus also went smoothly. After around four weeks, the gloryfeel team was able to start using the new system – partly because both JTL-Wawi and Shopify Plus can be easily connected to third-party systems. The data exchange between the main system runs via the JTL-Connector integration. As this is hosted and developed natively by JTL, the synchronization of both systems offers a high level of reliability.

Success that can be measured

Hanke estimates that the switch has saved him a total of around 5,000 euros per month. Thanks to the height of usability of both solutions, the team can use its resources for other tasks, which is also reflected in the figures. Since the switch, conversion has increased by a total of 30 to 40 percent.

As an “old hand” in the eCommerce business, Oliver Hanke knows that if you miss out on trends, you will quickly be left behind by the competition. By choosing JTL and Shopify Plus, he has opted for providers that bring a good dose of innovative strength to the table. He also senses this in communication and service: “ERP and store systems must continue to evolve, pick up on trends and technologies and successfully integrate them so that we as retailers can also continue to develop. This is where we feel we are in good hands with both JTL and Shopify.”

In a fast-moving market such as eCommerce, a positive approach to change and innovation is essential. Even if the market were to change significantly again, Hanke says: “We would choose JTL in combination with Shopify again today. I can only recommend integrating the online store with an ERP system like JTL-Wawi to anyone. System integration simply pays off in the long term and makes things so much less stressful.”
