Interview with Katrin Gold, owner of Punto Nero
JTL: Hello Katrin. Thank you for taking the time for an interview. Why don’t you briefly introduce yourself and your stores?
Katrin: Hello and with pleasure. I’m happy too! In my case, you could say that I have turned my passion into my profession: As a certified roasterbarista and tea sommelier I run I run two stores in Switzerland – one in Basel and one in Gelterkinden – where I mainly sell high-quality coffee and tea.emachines, coffee, tea and tea porcelain as well as organic spices from all over the world. For the coffee emachines also include consulting and repairs to my service portfolioat the same time I rent out equipment for the professional sector. I also offer in my stores various events such as tastings or tea ceremonies.
What is certainly special and unique is that my husband and I combine life and work. We each live above or next to the stores. And my husband also uses the business premises for his ICT support company. He was also the one who gave me the idea, to use JTL-POS.
JTL: That sounds like a very diverse business. Why did your husband choose JTL-POS?
Katrin : With his company ProgWeb, my husband offers services relating to ICT systems. This also includes ERP and POS systems. That’s why he already knew the JTL product range very well and has already installed your point of sale system for several customers – and found it to be Good. The idea of using JTL POS in our own stores was quickly born. Since November 2020 I use the checkout now in both stores and have to say: I am also completely satisfied.
JTL: How did you find setting up JTL-POS?
Katrin: The setup of JTL-POS is described in the JTL-Guide very clearly documented. With the help of the step-by-step instructions, the entire installation and initial setup was completed in no time at all.
JTL: Of course we like to hear that. How do you currently use JTL-POS?
Katrin: As we run two stores and and it is important to us isthat the cash registers communicate with each other, we have opted for JTL-POS ERPConnected decided. We maintain our stocks in JTL-Wawi and the reconciliation takes place automatically. And I can rely on it, that the information is always up to date. In my hectic day-to-day business, I wouldn’t want to have to manually synchronize data after closing time.
JTL: Do you use additional hardware for your cash registers?
Katrin: We currently have the JTL-POS app installed in every store on two standard tablets. With the help of the JTL-POS app CustomerDisplay we use two more tablets as customer displays. We then connected a receipt printer, a QR code scanner and a cash drawer via Bluetooth. A set-up that currently suits us perfectly!
JTL: Do you bidder card payments? And how do you handle cashless payments with JTL-POS?
Katrin: I don’t currently offer card payment in my stores. But there is an increasing demand for it. That’s why I’ve now decided to join one of JTL’s payment partners, SumUp. The ideal solution for me as a small business owner. The hardware has already been ordered and we will be setting it up in the next few days.
JTL: In your opinion, is JTL POS suitable for retailers who have little experience with POS systems?
Katrin: Absolutely! I have to confess: I’m not incredibly tech-savvy myself. But working with JTL POS is really fun. I can easily add the individual items to a receipt using the product images created and then checkout quickly and easily. When new items are added, they are also just a few clicks away in JTL-Wawi with just a few clicks.
I also find it Good that I can flexibly connect additional cash registers or hardware. The fact that we were free to choose and are not tied to any manufacturerhas also convinced us. If we open more stores in the near future, we can easily scale with JTL-POS. For me, it’s reassuring to work with a system that can also keep pace with major growth spurts.
