Now it’s time to work! JTL-Wawi 1.7 Open Beta marks the start of the open test phase of JTL-Plan&Produce

After many great conversations with manufacturing merchants at JTL Connect, we are even more excited about today’s release! The open beta version of JTL-Wawi 1.7 marks the start of the open test phase for our new “baby” – the manufacturing and production solution JTL-Plan&Produce. In this article, we will not only introduce you to the most important features, but also reveal what other innovations JTL-Wawi 1.7 has in store for you.

Flexible production for a wide range of industries

“We wanted to develop a solution for the manufacturing trade that is versatile and can be integrated into other business processes without system breaks. After all, online business is complex enough without manufacturing,” explained Marc Völker, Product Owner for JTL Plan&Produce, in his recent presentation at JTL Connect. If you look at the many industries from which our more than 250 pilot customers come, we can consider this goal to have been achieved. From food manufacturers to medical technology retailers, our solution has proven itself for the production of a wide variety of products.

JTL Plan&Produce can be used to implement a whole range of production types and processes:

• Series production with MHD and batch production
• Individual production
• Ad hoc production
• Disposition production

How to participate in the Open Beta of JTL-Plan&Produce

JTL-Plan&Produce is a module of JTL-Wawi. The new 1.7 version of our ERP is the vehicle. If you download JTL-Wawi 1.7 Open Beta, you can use our entire production solution, including the JTL-Workbench assistance system, free of charge. After you have downloaded and installed the beta version of JTL-Wawi 1.7, all you have to do is click on the “Participate” button in the JTL-Customer Centre in the “Participate” section -> “Pilot program” under “Production and manufacturing modules for JTL-Wawi”. The test license for JTL-Plan&Produce will then be visible in JTL-Wawi and can be booked – free of charge, of course!

Live demonstration at JTL Connect

At JTL Connect 2022, you were able to see for yourself how JTL Plan&Produce works in practice during the live demonstration. In cooperation with Flyeralarm, trade fair visitors were able to use the tool to print their personalized jersey and take it home as a goodie. Have you already worn your jersey during a workout? JTL-Plan&Produce: Good planning is half the production

The structure of JTL Plan&Produce is a great way to see how numerous factors interact in manufacturing processes. In the “Production” area, you have an overview of the most important W questions relating to production: What and how much needs to be produced when and by whom? Under “Master data”, “Planning” and “Production” you will find basic information about production, including the individual production steps, production materials and production locations.

In day-to-day business, however, you don’t just have to worry about production. That’s why we have structured elements such as production orders and production items in a similar way to the “classic” elements of sales orders and items in JTL-Wawi. If you use JTL Plan&Produce, you won’t lose sight of important areas such as purchasing, logistics and warehouse processes. JTL-Wawi is and remains the control center of your entire trade.

JTL-Workbench: Your helper at the production table

Enough planning! Let’s get down to business with the JTL Workbench assistance system. Instructions, descriptions and visual aids, which you have previously created in JTL Plan&Produce in work steps, are displayed to your employees for each step during the actual production. So they know exactly what to do at all times. In terms of usability, we have based JTL-Workbench heavily on our warehouse solution JTL-WMS. The touchscreen-optimized user interface is ideal for fast and efficient work on the shop floor.

Work not yet completed: How to continue with JTL-Plan&Produce

The open beta launch is a milestone, but not yet a finish line! With the help of your feedback, we want to continuously develop our production solution. These features are already on our to-do list:

• Partial quantity management: Production processes generate residual quantities such as pieces of cable or wooden panels every day. With partial quantity management, you can process these profitably and always know how much is actually in stock.
• Blockly: The visual programming language Blockly allows you to automate processes even without a developer or IT background. Variables, logics or loops are displayed as colored blocks so that you can create your own automated processes almost playfully.
• Expandability via plugins: The exchange with our pilot customers and the discussions with manufacturing retailers at JTL Connect have shown us one thing above all: Every production is different. That’s why our long-term goal is to make JTL Plan&Produce highly customizable with extensions. Similar to JTL-Shop, our partners will provide new functions for the production module with plugins so that you can customize it according to your requirements.

And what else? Further new features in JTL-Wawi 1.7

Even though JTL-Plan&Produce is the biggest new feature of JTL-Wawi 1.7 Open Beta, we would like to mention that our ERP has also received a fresh-up in other areas. Here is an overview of the most important new features:

• We have further improved the usability of both the JTL-Wawi app and the JTL-WMS mobile app and made some changes in the background.
• You can now save your purchase order proposals as templates. For an even more precise needs analysis, these can now be carried out with relative time periods.
• A/P invoices can be created during purchasing, which include the uninvoiced quantities of a delivery.
• The service desk also has a new feature: if you receive a customer inquiry about an open sales order, it is now possible to answer it directly with a tracking link.
• JTL-WMS users can also rejoice, as stocks can now be updated via imports with JTL-DataTransfer.
