In February of this year, we released our POS software JTL-POS as a stable version. A lot has happened since then. In today’s blog post, we would like to introduce you to the biggest innovations. And as a JTL-POS user, you also have the chance to benefit from an exclusive promotion with our new payment partner iZettle. So it’s worth reading on at this point.
JTL-POS and the KassenSichV 2020
As you have probably noticed, the Cash Register Security Ordinance (KassenSichV for short) introduced a number of legal changes this year that electronic cash register operators had or have to implement.
In order to make JTL-POS ready for the KassenSichV, our development team has been working on this major construction site since the release:
One of the requirements of the KassenSichV stipulates that electronic cash registers must have a standardized digital interface that is compatible with the digital interface of the tax authorities for cash register systems (“DSFinV-K 2.0”). This ensures that all cash register systems use the same structure when recording and exporting data.
We already implemented DSFinV-K 2.0 in JTL-POS some time ago, so that you can safely fulfill this “to-do” of the KassenSichV.
Another requirement of the KassenSichV concerns the implementation of a technical security device (TSE for short) in your cash register. This is possible via both a hardware and a cloud version.
The use of Epson’s TSE (in the form of a printer or an upgrade kit) in conjunction with the Chromebox presented us with technical problems for a short time. However, as of version 1.0.2.0, you can now use your Chromebox together with the TSE from Epson without any restrictions (integration only via LAN; USB/Bluetooth are not possible). Both components are available in our JTL-Store.
To give you even more choice in the area of hardware TSE, we have also worked on integrating SwissBit components. From now on, you can purchase a USB stick and a microSD card tested by us in the JTL-Store to quickly and easily retrofit a certified TSE solution for JTL-POS. (Please note: This variant does not yet work in conjunction with the Chromebox!)
As already mentioned, the TSE can be implemented via external hardware components or in the form of a cloud version. The cloud-based version is ideal if your POS system has a permanent online integration and Windows as the operating system. The implementation in JTL-POS is already undergoing certification. You will therefore be able to pre-order the Fiskal Cloud from us shortly.
We also have a lot on our to-do list in the near future. The next project we will be tackling is digital documents. As part of a cloud version of JTL-POS, you as a retailer will be able to provide your customers with digital receipts instead of just paper receipts. To do this, you will be able to show your customers a QR code via JTL-POS CustomerDisplay. After scanning, the buyer will be directed to the JTL-POS cloud, where they can either download the document or have it sent to them by email.
We want to gradually expand this cloud function to include other useful functions, such as a customer review of the purchase or the cashier.
Of course, our developers have not only been working on the KassenSichV. A few other points were also on our agenda to make the use of our POS software even more convenient and better adapted to practical requirements:
Deliver POS sales via JTL-Wawi
A major issue that we have been addressing since the release is the ability to deliver your sales in JTL-POS via JTL-Wawi. This contributes to our overarching goal of integrating POS software and ERP even more closely. We want to open up all variants of modern multichannel commerce for you, in which online and offline commerce are efficiently interlinked.
It is now possible for your customers to pay for purchased items via JTL-POS and you can then send the goods – controlled via JTL-Wawi – to their home. All shipping methods that you have created in JTL-Wawi are available to you for this process. Of course, you can also handle the shipping processes via JTL-WMS.
Receipt discounts and smoothing totals with our point of sale system
The other two new features in JTL POS allow you to grant your customers individual discounts: The new “receipt discount” function allows you to grant discounts on individual items or the entire receipt during the checkout process, for example as part of a promotion or a customer loyalty program.
The “Smooth total” feature is useful if a customer buys a lot of individual items and you want to smooth out the odd final total in order to charge a round amount. In the overview, you can then see at a glance how much discount you have granted – both in euros and as a percentage.
Optimization of the integration of JTL-Wawi into JTL-POS
Overall, we also invested some time in optimizing the integration with JTL-Wawi. The aim here was to further optimize the interaction between the “ERPConnected” operating mode of JTL-POS and ERP. The result was, among other things, an increase in the stability of the data exchange between ERP and POS.
Integration of iZettle as a new payment service provider
Last but not least, we can announce an important innovation in the area of payments: As of this month, we have integrated iZettle – a PayPal Service as a new payment partner into our checkout. This not only opens up a wider range of contactless payment options for you, but also offers further advantages:
Tested payment processes Before integrating a new payment partner, we put the payment processes through their paces. So you can rely on smooth use.
For all payment methods Whether debit or credit card, Apple, Samsung or Google Pay. The iZettle card reader supports all common payment methods.
Secure and reliable Thanks to the tamper-proof design of the card reader and PayPal’s usual high security standards, all transactions are comprehensively protected.
Everything at a glance As all payments are processed centrally, you have a complete overview of your business at all times.
Fast payout Your earnings will be in your account within 1 to 2 working days, regardless of the card type.

JTL is one of our most important partners in Germany. Together we want to help small and medium-sized companies to be successful. With the integration of iZettle, we are now also looking forward to taking a common path in the POS area. Uncomplicated and contactless payment in stores is a must in these challenging times. With our mobile card payment system, we enable fast, contactless and secure payments on site.
And it gets even better: you can still take part in an additional discount promotion until the end of October!
