With JTL-Connector, you can control third-party provider store systems centrally from your JTL-Wawi ERP. For some time now, this has also been possible for Shopify in the open beta version. As of today, JTL-Connector for Shopify is available as a stable version: More stability and a great new feature included.
About ShopifyShopify is one of the world’s most popular store systems and is used by around 1 million customers, according to its own figures. Unlike comparable providers, Shopify follows the “Software as a Service (SaaS)” approach. This means that users do not have to host their store on their own server, but this is provided by Shopify. The Canadian company also takes care of maintenance and support.
Users of a Shopify store manage their item and customer data as well as orders completely online via a cloud. All applications and data processes – whether front end, back end or third-party systems – run via the same interface.
JTL-Connector for Shopify: Even more stable for release
The use of our third-party store interfaces enables a constant and smooth data exchange between JTL-Wawi and other store systems. As Shopify, with its SaaS approach and cloud-based technology, works differently to most other store systems, the corresponding connector also works slightly differently to our other third-party store integrations:
JTL-Connector for Shopify follows the “Remote Connector” principle. This means that the connector runs on a different server than the connected online store. However, it is correct to speak of a cluster, i.e. several servers, on which the connector is located. This allowed us to drastically increase the reliability of the stable release. It was also important to us to avoid a high workload by making the systems scalable. Good performance of our interface is therefore guaranteed throughout, even with a very large number of active users.
As with Shopify, we are pursuing a SaaS approach with the connector: we provide you with the entire infrastructure and you don’t have to worry about installation or maintenance! If you do have any problems, our support team will be there to help you via email as part of our included Basic plan.
New feature: Send base prices to the store as meta fields
For today’s release, we have of course not only worked “under the hood” to improve the performance of JTL-Connector for Shopify. An exciting new feature has also been added so that you can manage even more shop items conveniently from JTL-Wawi.
With the Shopify connector, basic price information can now also be transferred to the store – a crucial feature for online retailers who sell food. This is because this group of retailers is obliged in Germany to display the base price of their products.
In JTL-Wawi, the base prices of items can be maintained by default. And with today’s release, the connector automatically fills the corresponding meta fields of your Shopify store with the basic price information stored in your ERP.
To be able to use this new feature, you need to store the meta fields at the desired position in your store’s template. We have documented how this works for you in our JTL-Guide.

JTL-Connector for Shopify requires a license
Another major innovation for the release concerns pricing: Due to the SaaS approach described above, in which we take care of hosting and support completely, JTL-Connector for Shopify will be bookable with a fee-based license in the JTL-Customer Centre from 28.04.2020.
The pricing model is simple and depends on the number of orders you place. New customers can test JTL-Connector for Shopify in its stable version for 14 days completely free of charge.
