Interview with Manuel Pietzsch about JTL-Wawi 1.0

Manuel, could you please introduce yourself in two sentences? What do you do at JTL?

My name is Manuel Pietzsch and I coordinate projects related to our JTL-Wawi. From time to time, I also make minor adjustments and cosmetic corrections to the software myself.

On February 19, the beta version of the long-awaited JTL-Wawi 1.0 release was finally distributed. Can you please briefly summarize what JTL-Wawi 1.0 offers and what we can expect?

With JTL-Workflows 1.0, we support the automation of many processes via configurable workflows. Thanks to the new marketplace management, the playing field has been extended to all eBay marketplaces worldwide. Our users can now list new products on Amazon directly from JTL-Wawi!

We have completely rethought fundamental processes: they are leaner, faster and offer mail order companies many more options. With new item management, a revised attribute concept, greatly optimized individual and bulk delivery, more flexible exports and the full implementation of a structured picking process, this is the best Wawi ever! To list everything here would definitely go beyond the scope πŸ˜‰

After the release of the open beta, the JTL forum really got going and the testers started right away. What is the current user feedback on JTL-Wawi 1.0?

Our users continue to participate with great commitment and pleasure and provide us with important feedback for the further optimization of JTL-Wawi. Certainly, some processes have already been reconsidered and adapted in the first weeks of the open beta. But that’s exactly what JTL is all about; we don’t insist on our concepts, but work hand in hand with our community. This is the only way to create software that can continue to serve the rapidly growing market in the future.

What are the next steps? Without wanting to pin you down to a specific date, what is the current schedule and when can we expect the final release?

Our users are currently still providing very important feedback, some of which we would like to incorporate into 1.0.

I can’t give a fixed date at the moment because there are still so many great ideas coming in every day that we really want to implement. But I’m optimistic and assume it will be a few weeks.

Last, not entirely serious question: Are you currently dreaming of JTL-Wawi 1.0?

The current phase is very exciting and working directly with our users and partners is great fun. Reaching version 1.0 is a very big step in the history of JTL. Of course, you can’t help but dream about it from time to time. Fortunately, they are not nightmares πŸ˜‰

Thank you for the short interview.
