Attention, JTL-eazyAuction users! Amazon will begin to discontinue its programming interface for third-party services – the so-called MWS API (Amazon Marketplace Web Service) – on August 31, 2021. So that you can continue to use JTL-eazyAuction as usual, you have to take action yourself. But don’t worry, it only takes a few clicks. In this article, we explain the background to the changeover and what exactly you need to do.
Re-authentication is mandatory until 31.07.2022 so that you can continue to use JTL-eazyAuction!
What is the story behind the discontinuation of the Amazon MWS API?
From August 31, 2021, Amazon will renew its programming interface for third-party services – more precisely: The MWS API will be replaced by the more modern SP API (Selling Partner API) by July 31, 2022. This programming interface ensures that your Amazon Seller Account can exchange data with third-party services, such as JTL-eazyAuction in our case. As a third-party service, JTL obtains your “Consent” – your consent to data processing – by default.

With the introduction of the new SP API, you will have to re-issue and authenticate this consent as an Amazon seller. This gives JTL-eazyAuction the authorization to process data such as orders, prices or billing information. This is the only way you can control your Amazon listings from JTL-Wawi and benefit from JTL-eazyAuction functions such as automatic stock adjustment or the creation of product detail pages.
You should therefore already authenticate for the SP API today, as we are gradually replacing areas of the MWS API with the new, more modern SP API. However, you will not notice any adverse effects. For the transition period, not only MWS authorization but also SP API authorization is absolutely necessary.
By switching to the SP API, Amazon is essentially meeting today’s technical standards. In the meantime, the Amazon Marketplace Web Service (MWS), which controls all processes from product shipping to order management, has become outdated and so has the associated technical interface. The SP API offers “standards that are expected by today’s developers”, Amazon said in an official statement.
How the new authentication for JTL-eazyAuction works
With these step-by-step instructions, you shouldn’t need more than five minutes.
Requirements: For the authentication described here, you need an account for the JTL-Customer Centre and a JTL-eazyAuction account. In addition, an Amazon Professional account of the Seller Central or Marketplace type is required. Amazon Vendor Central accounts are not supported.
Step 1Log in to the main account of your Amazon account. A secondary account with limited access rights is not sufficient. Then navigate to the JTL-eazyAuction overview page. Click on the “Authorize now” button at the top right.

Click on the “Authorize now” button to open the login window to the JTL-Customer Centre. Log in here as usual.
Step 3In the customer center you have to link your Amazon account with JTL-eazyAuction again. To do this, enter your merchant name in the free text input field. Also select your home marketplace – Amazon.de for German sellers, Amazon.us for the USA, etc.

From here, the system will redirect you back to Amazon. There you can see in detail which data JTL-eazyAuction will access after your approval. Use the “Confirm” button to allow JTL to use the new SP API on your behalf.

Now Amazon is linked to JTL-eazyAuction again as usual.

If you would like to get an overview of which Applications you have already installed and shared, you can find a detailed overview of your third-party providers in your Seller account under “Partner network” > “Manage my apps”. As the changeover to the SP API described in this article is taking place gradually, you can currently find two entries there. Please note: In order to use JTL-eazyAuction, both Applications must be activated!

In the medium term, we are working on making it even easier for you to carry out the changeover described above directly in JTL-Wawi. We will inform you as soon as we have news about this.
Conclusion: Switching to the SP API is easy and offers many advantages
As you can see in the step-by-step instructions: Switching to the SP API does not require any major steps and can be done quickly. What’s more, your eCommerce will benefit from the more modern IT standards.
