MegaZoo has been impressing customers with its stationary pet supplies stores since 2006. However, the limits of stationary retail quickly became clear, as the product range could not be expanded endlessly. For this reason, the company expanded its range to include an online store. The aim was to give customers access to a wide range of products outside of the stores. MegaZoo now offers a large selection online, particularly in the areas of saltwater and freshwater aquariums and terrariums.

The technical basis: Shop and ERP system work hand in hand

Choosing the right e-commerce platform was crucial for success. Today, MegaZoo relies on JTL Shop 5 in combination with JTL Wawi to efficiently manage the entire product range. Automations such as JTL workflows make day-to-day operations much easier. “Our old store had simply reached its limits with over 150 plugins. With JTL, we have now found a high-performance and flexible solution,” reports Felix Bangel, Managing Director at MegaZoo. They were supported in the implementation by JTL service partner Solution 360.

Logistics: From challenge to strength

The logistics initially presented a major hurdle. A fulfiller that was connected via WooCommerce had to be replaced at short notice. However, MegaZoo quickly found a new partner through the JTL Fulfillment Network (JTL-FFN): LKG in Rötha near Leipzig. Despite the challenge of moving the entire stock during ongoing operations, the changeover was organized smoothly. Today, LKG takes over the warehousing and shipping of the products, while the MegaZoo team can concentrate on customer advice and animal care.

Smart combination: Pet supplies guide and online store in one

In addition to the classic online store, MegaZoo also uses JTL-Shop for a separate website that serves as a guide. Products are presented there that offer solutions to specific problems – such as the right pump for an aquarium. From there, customers can be conveniently redirected to the store to buy the right product directly. This link between advice and sales ensures a seamless customer experience.
