Welcome to JTL Shipping

Glad you're here.

On this page, you’ll find all the answers to your questions about switching to Shipping 2.0.

Everything about Shipping 2.0 – in one place

Great that you found your way here – and thank you for your trust. On this page you’ll find everything you need for your switch to JTL Shipping 2.0: the full webinar, a short onboarding video, the guide and the most important questions & answers.

Since spring, hundreds of merchants and fulfillers in the beta have shaped the platform with their feedback, so it delivers on your requirements and solves the problems that really matter in day-to-day shipping.

Concretely: 35+ carriers, 50,000+ shipping methods and 200+ destination countries in one interface, natively connected to JTL Wawi and JTL Shop – own carrier contracts, centrally negotiated JTL rates, or both combined, you decide per shipment.

In short: JTL ShippingLabels 1.0 printed labels. JTL Shipping 2.0 does that too – and so much more: it manages your entire shipping.

FAQ

Shipping 2.0 is JTL’s new cloud shipping platform – much more than a label tool. You run your entire shipping in one place, natively connected to JTL-Wawi and JTL-Shop: multi-carrier (every carrier, one interface, batch printing), orchestration (routing by cost, weight, destination and service level – with fallback), tracking (central overview incl. exceptions, branded tracking pages, proactive email/SMS updates), returns (return labels and QR codes; return rules to follow), analytics (analyze shipping performance, compare carriers, keep total cost in check) and soon checkout (dynamic delivery options). Plus what you don’t see but notice every month: one consolidated invoice for all carriers on centrally negotiated rates, checked by JTL against the carrier billing – and claims that JTL settles with the carrier for you.

Shipping Start is free for all JTL customers: no base fee, no fixed per-label fees, no minimum volume – centrally negotiated rates included. You only pay for what you ship. The optional editions Shipping Advanced (€75/month) and Shipping Pro (€119/month) only pay off once the extra features and the better discount level justify the fee at your volume – no one has to upgrade. Optional add-ons (e.g. Advanced Shipping Analytics, address validation, SMS notifications, shipment protection) are booked only when needed.

No – combining them is actually the recommended way. The number of possible own carrier contracts depends on your Shipping edition: 3 in Shipping Start and Advanced, 5 in Shipping Pro and 10 in Shipping Enterprise. Only those combining JTL Start with Shipping Start cannot connect their own carrier contracts. Alongside your own contracts you can use centrally negotiated rates where they’re stronger. An honest example from the webinar: a good own DHL contract is usually cheaper than our central DHL rates – keep it! Unless you want to save yourself the effort of an own contract (negotiation, separate invoice, own claims) and deliberately go for an all-in-one solution – then our central DHL rate is of course open to you too, with one invoice, support and claims via JTL. And round out your setup with central rates for DPD, UPS, out-of-home and cross-border, where we negotiated hard. That way you get the best price per shipment – all through one interface, one invoice, one support.

You’ll need in advance: JTL Start edition or higher · JTL-Wawi 2.0+ (2.0.5 recommended) · access to the JTL Kundencenter · a smartphone for two-factor authentication (authenticator app). Then activate Shipping 2.0 in the JTL Kundencenter – Shipping Start is free and non-binding. In the video, Christopher walks you through all the steps: (1) set up the JTL Hub, (2) set up the Shipping 2.0 app, (3) connect JTL-Wawi, and (4) configure the printer. After that you activate your carriers (enable centrally negotiated rates and/or connect your own contracts), compare your personal prices under “Versandarten”, and test with a few shipments in parallel to your current setup – with no risk to live operations. If you have questions, the support portal is right inside the app.

The carriers have set their shutdown dates: GLS switches off its old interface on 31 December 2026, right in the Christmas season, DPD follows in early 2027. No one should be forced to migrate during their busiest weeks just because a carrier pulls the plug. That’s why we set a clear goal: by 30 September everyone should be on Shipping 2.0, so you start your most important quarter already migrated and stable. 30 September is also the last day JTL provides technical support for the old DPD and GLS connections in JTL-ShippingLabels 1.0. We’re focusing our capacity on the certified connections in Shipping 2.0 instead of maintaining two parallel systems.

TL-ShippingLabels 1.0 stays in place for now; two things are decisive: the carriers’ end-of-life dates and JTL’s support cut-off. The carriers switch off their old interfaces on these dates: GLS on 31 December 2026, DPD in early 2027 (subject to change). At JTL, 30 September 2026 is the last day we provide technical support for the old DPD and GLS connections in ShippingLabels 1.0. Hermes and Austrian Post have no end-of-life, but both are actively moving their customers to the new connections in Shipping 2.0 because they cover more. Our recommendation: switch by 30 September, before peak season, not in the middle of it.

No – no one has to upgrade. Shipping Start stays free for all JTL customers, central rates included; JTL Advanced/Pro/Enterprise customers additionally use up to 3 own contracts in Shipping Start at no extra cost. An upgrade (Advanced €75/month, Pro €119/month) only pays off once the features and the better discount level justify the fee at your volume and requirements – we’re happy to work that out with you.

You see all rates directly in the Shipping 2.0 app: under “Versandarten”, your personal price per shipping method – filterable by country, weight and dimensions, sortable by price (incl. a “best price” marker). There is deliberately no public master price list: prices are personalized and vary by edition (discount levels 1–4).

The right way is the support portal directly in the Shipping 2.0 app: tickets from there are automatically assigned to the Shipping 2.0 team – which also avoids the detour via the general hotline, which isn’t yet fully versed in Shipping 2.0. We work during business hours and aim to respond within 48 hours; for investigations and claims we sometimes depend on the carrier’s reply.
